Springfield Mass.^ts Sir On the examination of your accounts an over payment has been discovered — made to Jonathan Packard, he being made up in the Role for August from the 19 of that month to the 19 of the following month, & on the September Role his pay is again taken up from the 1^st September — which makes an over payment of 19 days — This you will please to explain and your accounts will be balanced agreeably to a statement which will be furnished you. The thousand Dollars you require, will be forwarded by Col^o. Rochefontaine to whom You are requested to give your duplicate Receipts to be forwarded to this Office for his exoneration. I have never received your receipts for the money carried on by M^r Cranch & Capt Burff please to inform those gentlemen that their Accounts are charged on the Books of this Office with those Sums.
