Sir I have received your letter of the 12^th instant together with the packet of news papers. The Quarter Master General I presume is now with you and of course will immediately endeavour to accomplish a settlement of his accounts, in which he expects my Disbursements up to the end of the present year will be included therefore in order to enable me to compleat my Accounts as early as possible, I have to beg your attention to my letter by last post, which was accompanied by an Estimate of immediate objects of Expenditure. The Certificate given Dunwoody's Wagg. contained the truth and nothing but the Truth — I do not recollect observing marks of Violence on the barks deficient in weight, but I recollect that none of them appeared to be leaky — it is however possible that a part of the deficient fluids might have imperceptibly oozed through the pores of the wood — it is certain that your weight and mine in Packages of dry goods always agree.
