I shall pay attention to their contents. Lieutenant John McClallen went from West Point on the 6^th instant for New York; and will on his return deliver to me the three thousand four hundred and forty five dollars which you inform me are in the hands of Nicholas Fish for the pay to the 30^th of October, and additional bounty due, to the corps at this garrison. Mr. McClallen is careful; but I should wish to be informed by you, at whose risk the money is supposed to be, when it has been paid out my [undecipherable] at New York, but has not been received by me at West Point. My business will seldom permit me to go for it myself. By your List of Alterations in the pay rolls, last transmitted to you, there appears to me, as due to this garrison, two thousand four hundred and forty four dollars and Eighty Seven Cents. You have remitted to me two thousand, seven hundred, and forty five dollars. I observe, that on the List of additional bounties, there is money due to men who, after a short service, have been discharged on account of bodily infirmities. Some were inlisted in a disordered state, but others contracted diseases while in the Corps. None of them is now present; but I would request your directions on this subject, that I might not be at a loss if any should apply for the additional bounty. I enclose to you a muster and pay roll for the Corps of Artillerists and Engineers, present at this garrison, on the 30^th of November, 1795.
