P.O. 446-410.] [317] Pittsburg 11^th December 1795 Sir, I have received your letter of the 5^th instant, en-closing the contract price of Cloathing for the current year. The Quarter Master General is now on his way to your City, where he will continue, I presume until his public accounts are settled at the end of the year. You will find enclosed herewith an estimate of objects of expenditure at this post, and its dependencies up to the end of the present year — this estimate comprehends objects only that are not contemplated in the Estimates of Presqu'isle and Fort Franklin — the amount Twelve thousand seven hundred & ninety eight dollars and ninety cents — this estimate you will find accompanied by a summary view of my Receipts & disbursements in the Quarter Master Department, during the administration of the present Quarter Master General — by that statement you will observe a balance against me on the tenth Instant but you will also observe by a copy of my account with James O'Hara that a balance is in my favour amounting to seven thousand three hundred & sixty one dollars fifty two cents — that sum I wish to be placed to my credit in such a manner that Six thousand Dollars of it may be remitted immediately to replace monies that had been put into my hands by the Accountant of the War Department for pay of the Troops of the upper posts of the Ohio and which will shortly be called for. The amount of my estimate is also immediately wanted — I have this day been under a necessity of anticipating a part of it by drawing on you in favour of Jeremiah Barker at eight days sight for five hundred dollars which please to pay exchange as usual. You will please to present the estimate to the Secretary of War for his approbation. Hamilton Helwaggoner is arrived & has delivered to a M. Audrain the Articles addressed to M. oBarneceby he having set off for the Mississippi eight days before their arrival. The barrel of Sugar is also delivered. I am with great esteem Sir Samuel C.
