December 10^th 179[–] Sir Your account dated 23^d M[–] last assigned to M^r William Pennock is presented by his attorneys Mess^rs Hamsted & McCall, which I am under the necessity of Suspending for the following reasons — Viz^t The three first charges by you amounting to [£][–] being for your ferriage crossing and recrossing ferry at Sundry times between 3^d September 1794 and 12^th [June] 1795 for your Expenses from Philadelphia to M[–] from 25 July 1794 to 12^th August following and for the postage of Letters upon public business, these Charges are entirely unsupported by vouchers, Neither of which can be admitted unless sanctioned by the Secret[ary] of War, to whom you will please to render your A[c]count together with such Vouchers that he may be enabled to form an Opinion thereon and give his directions accordingly. — The charge for your pay amounting to £18.14.9 I have thought it proper also to suspend for the present and refer you to my letter of 20^th November last. — I am Sir &c— William Immo[n]
