Pittsburg December 6^th 1795 Sir I have received your letter of the 28^th Ulto. enclosing a press Copy of one of the 26^th to both of which I shall pay due attention. Captain Slough's Detachment is arrived and this morning Ensign Martin with a Detachment of 25 men embarked for to bring Captain Randolph's Troop is hourly expected and I am happy in having anticipated your wishes in preparing for the Dragoons Horses that were necessary in transporting or conveying provision to the other public stores to La Boeuf & Presque Isle in consequence of which I have drawn on M. Hodgdon for 2,000 dollars — which also became a necessity of making further drafts to enable me to discharge the several accounts in the Quarter Master Department up to the end of the year. The people employed by M. [undecipherable: Andrew?] Ellicott in building a Saw Mill at Presque Isle frequently call on me for payment of their Services — As these people were engaged by M. Ellicott & continued under his superintendence I am unable to satisfy them in what manner or at what rate they are to be paid. The enclosed account is stated promptly on information of these workmen — They, you will be pleased to instruct M. Ellicott make his remarks on — return it with your instructions, accepting it. You will find enclosed an Invoice of sundry articles of Chicasaw Indian Goods sent from here yesterday in charge of M. John Frederick, Merchant of Nashville, and assigned to M. Anthony Foster of that Place, this was the first opportunity of forwarding these goods since the departure of M. Foster on the tenth of June, in after which time the whole of this parcel arrived here. Col. Neville informs me, that he has contracted the purchase and delivery of all the Whiskey he has contracted with the Secretary of the Treasury to purchase for the Army, the principal part of which was at an early period sent forward by me to Fort Washington, the remainder either transfered to Fort Franklin, Le Boeuf & Presque Isle or placed at this post, therefore there is not any whiskey now on hand at this post nor a possibility of any until instructions for commencing a new purchase arrives from the Secretary of the Treasury or from you. If you have no objections I wish to be in Philadelphia next January or as soon as I can complete my accounts up to the end of the present year and furnish the several posts with their Winter Supply of Provisions &ca.
