Sir War Office Dec. 4. 1795 Capt. Tinsley on his arrival at the town of St. Marys, if he finds there no orders from you or Col. Gaither, he is instantly to send up to Colerain for yours. In the mean time he will only disembark his men for refreshing them: letting the stores remain on board, untill you shall, according to circumstances, fix the destination of the detachment. The whole cannot probably be needed at Colerain — nor even half of yours & his together. The state of the frontiers on account of the late murders committed by the Georgians on the Creeks, may demand a different disposition of the troops from what was at first contemplated. I hope Col. Gaither will be at St. Marys soon after you. In the mean time the actual state of things must govern your measures. Let all tend to prevent general hostilities with the Creeks. [undecipherable] T.
