Sir, An Account has been adjusted at the Treasury between the United States and James Byns, contractor for casting Howitzers, by which it appears that he has cast & delivered to John Bryant, Keeper of Military Stores at Springfield on the 1^st Ultimo, ten Howitzers weighing sixteen thousand, two hundred and fifty pounds. — I enclose for your further information a copy of said Bryant's receipt for the same.
