Sir The Secretary of War having issued a Warrant in your favor for the sum of fifteen Thousand seven hundred and twenty One Dollars and you having signed Receipts to be accountable for the Delivery thereof to Isaac Craig, Esq^r at Pittsburg You are charged with that sum on the Books of this Office to exonerate you therefrom you are to forward the Receipts of the said Isaac Craig. — I am Sir &c — William Simmons — Isaac Craig Esq^r. Department of War Pittsburgh — Accountant's Office November 26, 1795. Sir The Bearer hereof Col^o Ebenzer Sproat has charge of the sum of fifteen Thousand seven hundred and twenty one Dollars to be delivered to you for the following purposes to Wit — Twelve hundred and eighty five Dollars for the pay and forage of the Troops at the upper posts of the Ohio for the month of October 1795 you will on Receipt thereof give him your duplicate Receipts for the faithfull application of that sum and fourteen thousand four hundred and thirty six Dollars for the pay and forage of the Army at head Quarters Forts Knox, Stuten, &c for the month of October. You will therefore receive this sum and forward the same to Caleb Swan Pay Master, giving your duplicate Receipts to Col^o Sproat for the package — he being held accountable on the Books of this Office for the sums until your Receipts therefor are presented. — I am Sir &c William Simmons Caleb Swan Esq^r. Accountants Office November 26[undecipherable] Sir I have to inform you that Col^o Ebenzer Sproat has Charge of the sum of fourteen thousand four hundred and thirty six Dollars, being for Pay and forage of the Army for the month of October which sum will be forwarded to you by Isaac Craig at Pittsburg to whom Col^o Sproat is to Deliver the same. You will on Receipt thereof give your Duplicate Receipts to be accountable to the Accountant of the War Department for the due application thereof; in the name of Mr Craig and forward them to him as he will be charged with the amount, when he receives the same from Col^o Sproat and your Re[undecipherable] will be necessary to exonerate him. .
