Sir, Your Acc^t Current was handed me by the Sec^y of War, on examination of which I find you have not credited the Amo^t of your Sub^ce Acc^t to 31 Aug^t transmitted to you thro' the Superv^r on the 2^d Ins^t amounting to 87 ⁴²/₁₀₀ Dollars which leaves a Balance in favor of the U. S. of 149 ⁴²/₁₀₀ D^rs agreeably to an Acc^t stated, a Copy whereof you have enclosed. This Balance you will please to authorize some person in this City to refund to the Treasurer of the U.
