Sir, I have received your letter of the 14^th Ins^t and agreeably to your Request have settled your Acc^t for Pay & Forage up to the 1^st of the present Month and after deducting therefrom the Amo^t of your Order in Favor of Joseph Hardy for 150 Dollars. the Balance due you is 22 Dollars which Sum you will receive under cover from Samuel Lewis [undecipherable] in the War Office I have to request that you will sign the enclosed Rec^t & the order in favor of M^r Hardy will be return'd to you with his Endorsement I am Sir &c. W^m Simmond. P.S. Enclosed you will receive a Post Note for the above Sum of twenty two Dollars.
