Sir, I have the honor of acknowled the Rect of your Letter of the 12^th Ins^t. inclosing a Certificate from the Register of the Treasury that the Account of Samuel Hodgson as Superintend^t of Military Stores was closed on the Books of the Treasury for a Balance of 14,213 ¹⁷/₁₀₀ Dollars for which he stood therein debited. In answer to which I have to inform you that the Sum of 1300 Dollars, part of that Sum advanced by Samuel Hodgson to Elias Langham Storekeeper at Shepherds Town has been accounted for by said Langham on Settlement at this Office 23^d. Sept^r. last by deducting the Amount from his Acc^t of Expenditures at that. The Accounts thereof are included in the last quarterly acct from this Office now at the Treasury for Examination. The Balance is carried to the Debit of Hodgson on the Books of this Office by crediting Accts transferred from the Books of the Treasury for the Sum of 12,913 ¹⁷/₁₀₀ Dollars. I am Sir &c. W^m Simmons.
