Carlisle Nov^r 10^th 1795. Sir I Expected before this time to have been able to forward my accounts for settlement, but the accountable delay of Capt Lewis has detained me to, but me it till my arrival at Pittsburgh, you were please to communicate to me that it would be necessary to send forward one set of Muster Rolls to Lieut Swan Esq^r but as this detachment I understand is meant for the Upper Posts on the Ohio, I should be glad to know if it will be Necessary, I have settled with Capt Sloughs Recruits and my own to the 1^st this Inst wich required a sum of Three Hundred and Seventy three Dollars & 98 Cents, wich will leave a ballence of 42 & 22 cents whether this will be sufficient to pay Capt Lewis Men when they come forward, I am not able to determine, but I shall distribute as far as it will go and render you a faithfull Account at Pittsburgh as I am afraid I shall not be able to proceed farther for some time, having for this two Months past been much afflicted with the Rhumatism — I have enclosed my Recept Roll for July & August, also Lieu & Henrys Recept for their hay I am with Respect your humble Servant Charles Martin En^s W^m Simmons Esq^r Accountant [2^d Sub Legin, 1^st]
