Sir,
I had the honor of receiving you
letter of the 4th Inst. on the Subject of the Vouchers br
forward by Mr. John Carson for the pay of the Scouts
the Frontiers of N. Carolina, and have to observe th
after carefully re-examining the papers produced by h
& from a full Consideration of Circumstances relati
thereto, I see no reason to retract from the Opini
given to Mr. Carson in my letter to him of the 30th
& that I still conceive it would be highly inexpedi
to admit the Vouchers produced by him to his Cl
until there is further Evidence of the Payment
the Scouts, or to make him any further advance
the Bond given by him is cancelled.
