War Office Nov⁶. 1795 Sir, Henry Abel is going home to his own country. He will want a horse, saddle & bridle. I would wish him to be decently equipped. The horse should be one of the hardiest you have in good order well shod. Please to have these articles in readiness against monday next. — The new Saddles are never more than half stuffed; the consequence is that in two days riding the Saddle tree comes to the horses withers. When the horse is selected, it will be best to take him with the Saddle saddle to the Saddler & have the Saddle exactly fitted to the horse. But at all events let there be more Stuffing; which never theless the Saddler will neglect, unless some one sees it done effectually. I speak on my uniform experience. V^s P.
