West Point Sir, Your letter of the 31^st Ultt. enclosing your recruiting Account and Vouchers, and the Receipt Roll for the Pay of your Recruits up to the 31 August last has been rec^d, examined, and the Aggregate being 284 ⁵⁵/₁₀₀ passed to your Credit. Of the Amount of your Contingent Account you have been credited with only 46 ⁴⁰/₁₀₀ Dollars being the Amount of that Account wherein Sergeant Clarks exp^s are included & for which proper Vouchers are produced leaving a Balance against you of 117 ¹⁰/₁₀₀ Dollars. Before the Sum of 97 ³/₁₀₀ charged by you as appears in the enclosed a/c. can be passed to your Credit you must certify in Oath "That there was no person acting as a Contractor at the place of your Rendezvous for the time you furnished the Rations that they were supplied by yourself and that the Charge is just and reasonable." Also a Voucher must be produced for the Charge of 5 ⁶³/₁₀₀ Dollars said to be paid for apprehending two Deserters. I am Sir &c. W^m Simmons
