Pittsburg 23^d October 1795 Sir, I have received your letter of the 17^th instant. The hospital at Presqu'isle has been supplied with such articles as could be found at this place previous to the late Arrival of hospital stores - since which and immediately after their Arrival Sent forward one Cask Sugar, 192^lbs Rice 23^lbs Bohea Tea 50^lbs Chocolate 30 Gallons port wine 33½ Gallons Spirits 32½ Gallons Vinegar one Medicine chest furnished with a large proportion of the most essential Medicines taken from the old Chests returned by the late Militia Army - Together with an additional Package containing 50^lbs Bark 2^ton 24 Hospital Mattecks to a further supply will go forward by next Boats. I shall immediately endeavour to purchase a Quantity of peas for the Garrison of Presqu'isle - the price which Col. Reed asked when I was last at place was twelve shillings per bushel but I am in hopes to obtain that Article on better terms. I have this day transmitted to the Comptroller of the Treasury three packets all of which I have taken the liberty of forwarding under cover addressed to you, one of these packets contains an Abstract of expenditures in the Quarter Master Department at this post & its dependences during three months Viz July, August & September 1795. the other two Packets contain the relative Vouchers of the Expenditures - A Capitulate to the above abstract is also enclosed herewith. A General Return of Stores was intended to have accompanied the abstract but could not be completed in time for transmission by this Post. Col. Butler is still at Fort Franklin endeavouring to complete the building at that place, he is expected to return in a few days — The Quarter Master General is now at this post - he says preparing to retire from public Service.
