Pittsburg 15^th October 1795 Sir When I was last at Fort Le Bœuf the Commanding Officer Ensign Joseph McCutcheon requested me to inform you that himself together with the Garrison under his command, Viz fifteen Men, are engaged under the Authority of the State of Pennsylvania and the Term for which his man are related expires on the last day of January next. But as it was expected that the whole of the State Troops would be balanced as soon as Gen^l Sevier & M^r Ellicott may have finished the Survey, for which they were appointed, which I believe is nearly completed. Neither the sixteen men at Le Bœuf nor any of the State Troops are furnished with winter Cloathing, therefore wishes either to be relieved by other Troops & disbanded or immediately to be furnished with suitable Cloathing for the ensuing Winter — The round Jackets & Trowsers on hand here Holloums would answer the purpose — for these sixteen men Blankets Shoes &Shirts are also wanted. The Quarter Master General is reported here this day yet to have retiring from publick Service. Col^l Butler is yet at Fort Franklin — Expecting that new work encreases the expectations in the Q^r Master Department of the upper posts an estimate of which will be transmitted by next post together with a general return of Stores here and an abstract of Instruments up to the first of the present Month. You will please observe that there encloses herewith Cap^t [undecipherable] Receipt for eleven hundred dollars appropriated for recruiting his Company at Presqu'isle.
