I have received & in consequence thereof the Secretary of War has directed a Remittance of 50 Dollars to M^r Senate to Dayton the Recruiting [undecipherable]. The chief of War recommends that greatest Precaution should be taken and overturus given to Dayton in Recruiting on Governor Colnors as there is a Number of Persons there which if they are enlisted will do no Credit to the Service. I am Sir &c. I have therefore thought that it would be proper to inform you by the Expres going to West Point that your Account is not yet been finally settled, that the charge of 80 Dollars to Capⁿ Haller with the 10½% charges for your own Account, are also unanswerable & cannot be admitted to your Credit. As you have made charges for subsisting your Recruits & for your [undecipherable] retained Balance it will be necessary before your Account can be finally settled that you should make Disposition that if have not drawn any Rations for yourself & Recruits for the said charge in your Account and that the Balance so paid to you from the United States.
