Nicholas Fish Esq^r Supervisor New York Sir, The Treasurer will remit you the Sum of one hundred & fifty Dollars which you will please pay to Lieut Horatio Re Dayton at Governors Island being for the use of the Recruiting Service, for which Sum please take his duplicate Receipts to be accountable for the due application thereof. L^t Horatio Re Dayton of the Corps of Artillerists & Eng^rs Governors Island New York Sir, You will receive from Nicholas Fish Esq^r Supervisor, the Sum of one hundred & fifty Dollars for the Recruiting Service, for which Sum you will give him duplicate Receipts to be accountable for the due application thereof. — This Sum is all that the Sec^y of War thought proper to advance, and recommends that the greatest precaution be used in enlisting Recruits upon Governors Island as the General Character of the laborers working there is such, that if enlisted will not do much Credit to the Service. As you stated ch^d on the Books of this Office with recruiting Money, it may be proper for you to send forward your Account & Vouchers properly attested as soon as possible that the Amount may be passed to your Credit. Your Muster & pay Roll of the Men stationed at Governors Island I have received which will be examined, & the Amount thereof transmitted to you in a few days. I am Sir &c W^m Simmons
