One Sett of Pay, Muster and Receipt Rolls you are to retain as vouchers for the Settlement of your Accounts at this Office which you can bring forward with you when you come to this City, which I understand will be shortly after the Recruits have marched. You will be particular in making out the Pay rolls as well as taking the Receipts, that a Settlement of them may not meet with Difficulty here. Major Haskell has also Charge of one hundred and fifty Dollars to be delivered to you for the purpose of defraying the Expenses of marching the Recruits to the Army for which Sum you will accept to him to be accountable for the Delivery thereof to Capt Wm Lewis on his Arrival at Carlisle; his receipt will be a voucher for your Payment, taking the same to be accountable to the Acct of the Dept of War.
