Canandaigua Oct. 9^th 1795 Sir, Your letter of Sept. 12^th is this moment rec'd and therein inclosed one thousand dollars which I have rec. and inclose a receipt to you for the same. I mentioned to you in my last I was under necessity for money for the use of the Six Nations, and had borrowed of Mr. Pell 200 D^rs & presumed to draw on you for the same & notwithstanding I have now rec a better Supply I hope you will have the goodness to pay to Mr Pell the 200 D^rs & make me accountable for the Sum, laid for the expenditures of the whole I hope reasonably to act for. I am told by Mr. Norris lately from Albany that the Oneidas have there sold to the Commissioners of New York one hundred thousand acres of their reservation the Sum they sold for I have not been able to learn — Capt. John the Onida Chief died with sickness while at Albany — Gen^l Simcoe has had the Senecas in Council at Fort Erie and I am told by Mr. Wadsworth he gave them a written Speech in which he very disrespectfully of you — I hear they are about to bring it forward to shew to me. I intend to copy the Same & to let you know that their mischievous intentions towards us are not yet suppressed.
