Herewith I transmit you an account current of this date between the United States and the Corps of Artillerists and Engineers at West Point, by which there appears to be in the regimental draft Eighty Five Dollars and [undecipherable] One Cents due to deserters from [undecipherable] and another account current of the same date by which [undecipherable] appears to be in the [undecipherable] One [undecipherable] and Sixty Two Dollars and [undecipherable] Thirty [undecipherable] to men who have deserted from thence. I likewise enclose you the following receipts: [undecipherable] [undecipherable] for his pay as private for April, May & June 1795 [undecipherable] — ditto — do — do — do — do [undecipherable] [undecipherable] — ditto — do — do — do — And Muster Rolls N^o 4 for the pay of the Corps at [undecipherable] Point for the month of July, 1795. To all which [undecipherable] there are [undecipherable] in the account current herewith enclosed by me. You will perceive that to the muster roll for July, I have added the muster roll for Captain [undecipherable]'s detachment for that month. For the Secretary of War's instructions, which I have now before me, it is observed that "[undecipherable] of [undecipherable] the [undecipherable] will so regulate the [undecipherable] of the necessary [undecipherable] and [undecipherable] dues, that there may always be in the chests a sum not exceeding the amount of two months [undecipherable]." My obedience to the orders of [undecipherable] of Administration must account for the irregularity which I may have introduced by dividing the [undecipherable], not to pay to Captain [undecipherable]'s detachment in [undecipherable] manner as that it may have its pay dues for the same sum as the rest of the corps.
