Sir, By a late arrangement it has be- come my Duty to settle all Indian Accounts as far as relates to annuities and Compensations in that Department, and generally all expences incident thereto, other than for the Pur[undecipherable: Purchase] of such Supplies as are proper to be made by the Purveyor, [undecipherable: and] accounted for to the Superintendant of Military Stores and [undecipherable: sup]- plies — All your Accounts which come under the above De[undecipherable: scrip]- tion are in future to be settled at this Office — I wou[undecipherable: ld] therefore recommend that you render as speedy as convenie[undecipherable: nt] your Accounts and Vouchers for the Monies you stand cha[undecipherable: rged] with on the Books of this Office stated up to the end of th[undecipherable: e] present year, and hereafter I could wish that your Accou[undecipherable: nts] might be settled quarterly, or half yearly as Circumstances [undecipherable: may] admit. — To enable you to effect this, it will be necessary [undecipherable: that] you make a Settlement of all Compensation Accounts up [undecipherable: to] the same period, so that they may hereafter be settled [undecipherable: also] quarterly. — In disbursing public Monies, I would also rec[undecipherable: om]- mend that strict Attention be paid to the Vouchers you [undecipherable: ob]- tain that they be full and sufficient for the Amount [undecipherable: paid] and that each payment express the particular Purpose, which will prevent any Difficulty arising on the Settlem[undecipherable: ent] of your Accounts.
