Sir,
On the Examination of your last Receipt Rolls transmitted I find that you have not made the payments to Capt Griffeth & Mr Rea's Company agreeably to the Pay Roll, having only paid them for the Months of April May and June, leaving their pay for the month of July still due to them, I have therefore to inform you that the Amount cannot be passed to your Credit untill the Receipts are forwarded for the whole, it being absolutely necessary that the Receipt Roll should accompany the Pay Roll and the Balances if any remaining in your hands is expected will be such only as are due to Absentes & Deserters.
I am Sir &c.
William Simmons.
