[260] Pittsburg 11^th September 1795 Sir I have this moment received your letter of the 5^th Instant accompanied by Eleven Hundred Dollars which I shall transmit immediately to Capt [undecipherable: Bfett] at Presque Isle agreeably to your directions. I have herewith enclosed a copy of the Account of Provisions purchase at Presque Isle together with two Prices proposed for a further supply as part of which the has now on hand at Presque Isle & the remainder expected by the Boats from Fort Erie in a few days the prices of the Pork & Flour are certainly extravagantly high the other contracts are much lower than they can be furnished from this place adding to first cut the transportation which from Pittsburg to Le Boeuf will not be less than two Dollars & fifty Cents [undecipherable] the say five Dollars p Barrel for Flour & from Le Boeuf to Presque Isle not less than fifty Cents p Barrel. But as there reason to apprehend that the proposals of [undecipherable: bole Beed] are unnecessarily high I have made application to a Mercantile House in Niagara & expect to be able to inform you by next Post of the lowest price at which the Garrison at Presque Isle can be supplied. In the mean time I have directed M^r [undecipherable] to purchase fifty Bushels of [undecipherable] of [undecipherable: bole Reed]. Cloathing shall be sent to Presque Isle on the requisition of Capt [undecipherable: Bfett]. I shall render every necessary Assistance in erecting a Block House & Store house &c at the mouth of French Creek. It was necessary to employ the Ox teams in order to facilitated the transportation of the Stores & materials for the Fort, as soon as the principal weight of that business is over, they are to be dismissed which I presume is already done.
