Sir,
Your letter of the 25th ulto: I have received, and the sum of Two thousand five hundred and seventy Dollars agreeable to your Receipt for that sum, will be placed to the debit of your Account on the Books of this Office. — As there is so continued a Variation in the Number of Troops at the upper Parts of The Ohio. I could wish that you would from time to time transmit Estimates to the Office of the probable amount of the Pay, Subsistance and forage which may become due to them say every two Months — The reason for my making this request is that I am at a loss to know how to frame the amount accurately owing to my not being in possession of Muster Rolls. It would also be a desireable thing, if You would forward quarterly a Statement of the Money you received and expended. It would answer as a Check on this entry to your debit, and credit on the Books of this Office. You will please therefore forward a Statement up to the last of the present Month, shewing the Balances if any remaining in your hands.
I am &c.
