Sir
Your letter of the 28th ulto. I have received and the sum of Two thousand, five hundred and seventy [undecipherable] Dollars agreeably to your Receipt for that sum, will be placed to the debit of your Account on the Books of this Office. — As there is so continued a Variation in the Number of Troops at the upper Posts of The Ohio. I could wish that you would from time to time transmit Estimates to this Office of the probable amount of the Pay, Subsistence and Forage, Which may become due to them — say every two Months — The reason for my making this request is that I am at a loss to know how to form the Estimates accurately owing to my not being in possession of Muster Rolls. It would also be a desireable thing if You would forward quarterly a Statement of the Money you received and expended — It would answer as a Check on the entry to your debit, and Credit on the Books of this Office. You will please therefore forward a Statement up to the last of the present Months — Shewing the Balance (if any) remaining in your hands.
