Sepr An.d William Simmons Esquire Accountant Department of War Wm Powers recd 10 Sepr Ans.d Sir I received yours of the 7th August past requesting my I meant Settlement of my account with the United States. had I when last in the City thought it for imediately nessasary I would have attended to it. Mr. Betterton having stated my Company account & gave me a statment of the Ballance due which is two Hundred and Sixty nine Dollars. This amount you will direct (if its Proper) to my own account Current. where the Ballance now stands in my Favour and Credit me in full on my Company account. I have wrote to John Field merchant who will discharge my Ballance that may apear on my account Current. I have also wrote to Mr. Betterton to prepare the amount & in my Place to get the amount paid, as it is not in my Power to be in the city until December first. I am Sir Your Obet Servt.
