I have received Mr Peter Vagner's Letter of the 15th instant, by which I am informed, that Eighteen Hundred and Forty Seven Dollars and Forty Nine Cents for the pay of the Corps of this garrison for the month of July last, and Eight Hundred and Ninety Three Dollars and Fifty Nine Cents for the pay of a detachment which have under the command of Lieutenant Ravan joined at West Point, will be [undecipherable] to me by Nicholas Fish Esqr at New York. Lieutenant John M'Clallen has received directions from the Council of Administration to proceed to New York, to receive the said two Sums, and return immediately to West Point. Lieutenant Narcis Dayton has returned, and delivered into the Regimental Chest, the amount he received from Nicholas Fish Esqr on my [undecipherable]

for the appropriations directed by your Letter of the 7th instant — viz: Three Thousand and Ninety Four Dollars and Eighteen Cents.
The Receipt Roll, which will specify the payment of the above mentioned Sums, and which I have called No 3, will be returned to you as soon as the requisite receipts can be Obtained.
As it seems to be your intention that Receipt Rolls should be made out at this place I would thank you to Send me a number of Blanks, of which I am at present destitute.
I am Sorry, there were any errors in the Capt muster and pay roll sent from hence: and I am in hopes none will hereafter appear.
