Sir The Secretary of War has drawn a Warrant in your favor for three hundred Dollars which sum will be transmitted to you by The Treasurer of The United States — to be paid to Griffith J McRee Captain in the Corps of Artillerists and Engineers at Wilmington for the Recruiting service, You will please therefore pay the amount to him taking his duplicate Receipts to be accountable, and transmit them by different Opportunities to this Office — Money for this purpose are generally transmitted to Supervisors of the Revenue — but by the request of Cap.^t McRee, who prefers it being sent to You — The Secretary of War has directed that the money should pass thro' your hands, The Compensation to Supervisors is 1 P C^t which allowance will also be made to you — as you stand charged with the above sum and will remain so until you forward Cap.^t McKee's Receipts — It is requested that they may be forwarded as soon as convenient. — I am Sir Y^r &c — In the absence of the Accountant Peter Hagner Clk Caleb Swan.
