The bearer hereof Charles Anderson an Express has charge of the sum of Two thousand five hundred & seventy Dollars, being for the Pay and Forage of the Troops stationed at the upper Posts of the Ohio for the Months of June and July 1795 which sum he has received in Post Notes as pr list enclosed — which sum is to be delivered to you and you will please forward Your Receipts for the same — —

The Secretary of War has drawn a Warrant in your favor for three hundred Dollars which sum will be transmitted to you by The Treasurer of The United States — to be paid to Griffith J McRee Captain in the Corps of Artillerists and Engineers at Wilmington for the Recruiting service, You will please therefore pay the amount to him taking his duplicate Receipts to be accountable, and transmit them by different Opportunities to this Office — Money for this purpose are generally transmitted to Supervisors of the Revenue — but by the request of Cap.t McRee, who prefers it being sent to You — The Secretary of War has directed that the money should pass thro' your hands, The Compensation to Supervisors is 1 P Ct which allowance will also be made to you — as you stand charged with the above sum and will remain so until you forward Cap.t McKee's Receipts — It is requested that they may be forwarded as soon as convenient. —

In the absence of the Accountant I have only to inform you That Charles Anderson, an Express has charge of the sum of Twenty eight Thousand eight hundred and seventy two Dollars, being for the Pay and Forage of the troops at Head Quarters, Forts Knox Stubin &c for the months of June and July 1795 which sum he received in Post Notes agreeably to the enclosed List, you will on Receipt thereof please forward your Receipts as usual to this Office. —
