Col^r Wilmington No. Cara^a Sir The Secretary of War has drawn a Warrant in your favor for three hundred Dollars which sum will be transmitted to you by the Treasurer of the United States – to be paid to Captⁿ [undecipherable] McKee Captain in the Corps of Artillerists and Engineers at Wilmington for the Recruiting Service. You will please therefore pay the amount, to him taking his Duplicate Receipts to be accounted, and transmit them by different Opportunity to this Office – Money for this purpose are generally transmitted to Supervisors of the Revenue – but by the request of Cap^t McKee – who prefers it being sent first to you – The Secretary of War has directed that the money Shall pass thro' your hands, The Compensation to Supervising is 1 [undecipherable] – which allowance will also be made to you – as you Stand charged with the above sum and will remain so –
