The Mail of Thursday last arrived so late in the Evening that I had not time to acknowledge the receipt of your Letter of the 11th instant, and as I did not receive the sum mentioned therein from the Treasurer until at a late hour by the succeeding mail, it is not until this morning that I am enabled to forward the money to Ensign Thompson.
