Boston.] War Office, August 17, 1795 Sir, On the 31st of December last the late Secretary of War, requested that you would receive and safely deposit in some suitable building at Boston a quantity of Sail Duck, which had been purchased for the United States Frigates. I request that from this stock you will please to transport by water as early as possible to Philadelphia, addressed to South Francis the Surveyor, the following supply for the Frigate building here, to wit: 46 Bolts No^s 1 — 5 Bolts No^s 7. 77½ do 3 — 32½ do 4. 83½ do 5 — 90 do 6. 10 do 7. The same quantity and quality as above you will also please to have forwarded to Baltimore, to the Frigate there to the address of Simmes & Joseph Hunt Naval Agents. [To Geo. Cabot &son. This induced me to hasten from you ideas on the subject. His ideas are contained in the enclosed copy of his letter of the 21^st instant, and you will be pleased to exercise the discretion suggested by him as proper to be used by you and every Constructor.
