[undecipherable]] Pittsburg 7^th August 1795 Sir In the absence of Major Craig, I have to acknowledge the Receipt of your Letter of the 31^st Ins^t with its enclosures. On the 3^d Ult. I received a letter from Major Craig dated at Priti-LeBoeuf, in which he informs me that the ^{[undecipherable]} transportation from this Post to Presqu'isle by land must be enormous [strikethrough: I positively instructing me immediately] to purchase thirty Pack Horses in addition to those purchased previous to his departure; he has not furnished me with money for this purpose on a supposition that you would have forwarded three thousand Dollars by this days Mail. And as this money has not come forward, the business is consequently much deranged thereby, I having already borrowed a considerable Sum for the above purpose, under promise of replacing it this day which I am not enabled to do.
