I Certify that there is due to Paul H Brevault, temporary Engineer the Sum of eighty two Dollars, being a Balance appearing due to him on Settlement of his account for Compensation from the 1st April 1794 (the date of his Appointment) to 30th June 1795 inclusive; which Sum is to be transmitted to Daniel Stephens Supervisor at Charleston South Carolina who is to be held accountable for the payment thereof to the said Paul H Brevault.
He has also rendered an account amounting to the Sum of five [underline: hundred and forty five Dollars], being for the following Expence which I have rejected and disallowed the same, not being warranted & authorized by his Instructions. Viz.
