Houdin deputy Store keeper at Albany it being for the following purposes Viz. Two hundred dollars thereof on Account of the incidental expences of the Ordnance Department, and ninety dollars on Account of the Pay of the said Mich^l G Houdin for the Months of April, May, and June 1795 for which you will take his Receipts to be Accountable. — I am Sir y^c William Simmons Michael G. Sir Nicholas Fish Supervisor of the Revenue at New York will [strikethrough: pay] you the sum of Two hundred and Ninety Dollars; Two hundred thereof being an advance on account of the Incidental expences of the Ordnance Department for the due Application of which you are held accountable. And ninety Dollars being for your Pay for the Months of April, [strikethrough: and] May, and June 1795: for each of which sums you will receipt to the said Nicholas Fish to be accountable. Sir It appears that advances have been made from this Department to M^r Thomas Holt — upon Estimates rendered by him, for the months of April, May & June 1795 being for Expenditures, Pay of the Armourers, and for the pay of a Guard over the Arsenal at the Post of New London in the State of Virginia, in these Estimates the pay of William Clarke an Armourer was included, and the Money transmitted as above to M^r Holt from whom M^r Clarke will have to receive the whole of his pay. If the pay of Clark was not already transmitted I am of Opinion that it would be very improper that any advances or Stoppages should be made from this Office to his orders. — I am Sir y^c William Simmons Lieut.
