Sir Your letters of the 2d & 15th Inst.
have been duly received and in answer thereto I have
to inform you that in my letter of the 15. Inst. Lieut.
Nehemiah Freeman Temporary Pay master at West Point
I pointed out the measures to be pursued in order that
all the men now at the Garrison may be paid in
full to the first of this months. I regret that your
men cannot be paid before I receive the Return men-
tioned in that letter. It is expected your pay will
be included on said Return when the sum due you
will be transmitted without delay.
