[Endorsement notation, rotated]: July 23. 1795 / [undecipherable] / Fort [undecipherable] [No] I wrote you on the 27^th June inclosing Muster & Pay Rolls up to the last of May — I now transmit you Receipt Rolls and Receipts for the pay of Officers and Soldiers who were paid by Me, Should there be any irregularity, I hope You will make an allowance as it is the first — I have accompanied them with an account Current and stated the Ballance that remains in my hands — The ballance taken from the receiptroles will amount to twenty Cents more then is stated in the Account Current which the receiptroles for July, August, & September, amounting to three hundred and seventy eight Dollars fifty three Cents will specify; but the letter accompanying the same, from the former accountant mentions only three hundred and seventy eight Dollars thirty three Cents, which was the amount of the money I received for the above mentioned three months, I did not suppose it of consquence, but as there appeared a difference in the ballances, I took the liberty to mention it — I have in possession duplicates of the receiptroles and receipts inclosed, except Lieut Cox's receipt who refused to sign a duplicate, I have therefore kept the original, and have taken the Liberty of inclosing You a Certified duplicate, which I hope will answer — John Smith had pay due from the 5^th of Febr. to the 10^th of June the day he was discharged, and paid by the direction of Maj.
