Pittsburg. —] D. of War Accountants' Office July 25^th 1795 Sir On examining your Vouchers I find you have in many cases gone contrary to your instructions of the 20^th of March 1793, in making advances to Officers on account of the Recruiting service and not making a final Settlement with them; you have also made them advances on account of their Jovy, which you should have stopped from them when their pay was transmitted from this Office. the ten dollars and fifty Cents advanced to Corp^ls Bryan & Henderson is not Receipted for, therefore it is necessary to procure their Receipts and William Smally makes his mark to a Receipt for two dollars and it is not witnessed. — The Receipts for the Bounty paid by Captain Sparks must be forwarded before the amount can be Placed to your Credit. — It is also necessary Ensign Purdy should make a settlement with you and account for the money advanced him before your accounts can be finally settled. — Inclosed you have the recruiting Accountants Receipts for the advances which you will be pleased to act upon agreeably to your instructions. — Sam Sir y^r o^b William Simmons
