New York July 22 1795 Dear Sir I transmitted you some time since an order on your Predecessor in office drawn by Maj^r Roberts in favor of M^rs Roberts for a part of his pay amounting to 15 Dollars per Quarter, the receipt of which you have not done me the favor of acknowledging. M^rs Roberts has come to this country at the instance of her husband, for the education of her children, & had this arrangement made for her support on [undecipherable]. Should the order not be honored, it will embarrass her very much as well as myself as Maj^r Roberts's agent in this country The first payment you will observe became due on the 1^st of the last months & I should be extremely indebted to you for your answer, as soon as you conveniently can, & for the payment (if Disposable) of the first Quarter. I am here by order of the Council of administration of our Reg^t. for the purpose of receiving of Col^o.
