I have rec'd in two letters from the Treasurer of the United States, of the 24th & 15th of May last the Sum of Sixteen Hundred and thirty Six Dollars & Ninety Seven Cents, in Bank Notes of the Bank of the United States — Sixteen Hundred, thirty Six Dollars & Ninety Seven Cents, of which Sum by your letter of the 11th of May I understand me to be transmitted to Capt. G. J. W. Ree at Wilmington, for the Pay of himself & recruits to the 31st of [undecipherable] inclusive — And by yours of the 15th of May I am given to understand that the other Five Hundred Dollars are to be transmitted
Engineer at Wilmington both of which Sums Shall be transmitted, and the rect. Sent to Your Office as soon as possible —
I hope you'll excuse my not acknowledging the rect. of the Notes sooner —
