Your letter of the 1st together with Major Toward's of the 4th Instt have been duly received also the pay and Muster Rolls of the Garrison to the 31st May and the 30th June, — immediate attention has been paid to the Objects contemplated in your letters — Nicholas Fish Esqr at New York will pay you the sum of two thousand five hundred and sixty four dollars and three Cents for which you will receipt to him to be accountable for the due application thereof — of this sums one thousand and fifty five dollars and seven Cents is for the Pay of the Officers Non Commissioned Officers and Privates who were present at the Garrison of West Point on the 31st May last agreeably to the Muster Roll transmitted to this Office by Captain Staats Morris, One thousand four hundred and eighty Dollars and seventy three Cents being for one months pay of the same who were present on the 30th of June; agreeably to the Muster Roll transmitted by yourself; and twenty eight Dollars and twenty three Cents to be paid to Lieut Nathanl Cudworth being a balance appearing due to him on Acct of pay to 31st May last, after deducting fifty Dollars which he received for the purpose of Recruiting and one dollar and sixty seven Cents, being the value of the Rations drawn by him for part of the month of April of Michael Gunkle at Philadelphia having at a subsequent date drawn his subsistence in full for the months of April and May from Manning Wykoff and Co at New York also seventy Cents over paid him as a Cadet being paid as such to 28th February and as Lieut from 26th February the date of his acceptance. -
If any errors should be discovered by the councils in the last Muster or Pay Rolls you will note their Amounts and Nature and report them to me without delay.
By this conveyance you will receive Receipt Rolls for the pay of the Corps to 31st May, also for the month of June which after taking receipts they are then to be returned to this Office that the same may be passed to your Credit — you will receive further instructions by the next Post —
