Sir
[Received from State Dep't Nov. 24 1904. B.P.O. 401810.]
I am favoured with yours of the 23d Instant and was a good deal Surprized at its Contents, haveing been prepossed with the belief that I had left the receipt you mention at your Countinghouse in September last, However Immediately on receipt of yours I had recourse to my Papers on those subjects and found the Second receipt which acComp[any]ing with the last you are pleased to forward Agrees exactly only that there is a Separate receipt for one of the Kegs of Vermillion which was not Sent with the other goods for the reason mentioned in mine to Major Craig on the back of which the receipt for the delivery of it is given, I am Sorry for the delay which has taken place in Sending those Papers forward to you but trust no loss has been Sustained in Consequence of it, And remain
