July 95] West Point, July 1^st 1795 Sir, Agreeably to the instructions, which I have received from Colonel Rochefontaine, I transmit to you, for the month of June, 1795, a muster and pay roll of the Second, third and Fourth battalions of the corps of Artillerists and Engineers. — That one general fund might be established, from which might be issued the pay of all monies due to the corps, I have been directed to include every officer of the three last battalions, although they may be detained on duty, which may not admit of their being from present at this garrison; but as I could obtain no return of the men under their respective commands, I have been obliged to omit in the roll all the noncommissioned officers and privates, not now on duty at West Point. I have also been directed to request that you would send me printed receets, musters, and pay rolls; and transmit an account of balances due to the officers of the Second, Third, and Fourth Battalions. — The officers present have requested me to represent respectfully to you, that they experience inconveniences in not having the arrears of pay, due to them on former muster rolls, transmitted to this garrison.
