not being able to affect any alteration on the frigate plank while in Norfolk and presuming it could not be done with propriety without writing to

mention the alterations which I understood just might be made and the plank answer the purpose as well

plank in general might be shorter

plank for bottom & ceiling might be wider at one end than the other

alterations would make the plank much easier to get and would be better as it would be clearer of knots

write and suggest as much to the board of war

alterations might be made
