[M^r Fox. at the Ship yard by post & Gosport] [8] Rich Neck 1^st July 1795 D[ea]r Sir Not being able to effect any alteration in the Frigate plank while in Norfolk, and presuming it could not be done with propriety without writing to the Board of War on the subject I herewith mention viz. the alterations which I understood you might be made and the plank answer the purpose as well.- The plank in general might be shorter 2^d that the plank for bottom & ceiling might be wider at one end than the other, the above alterations would make the plank much easier to get and would be better as it would be clearer of knots.- Perhaps if you would write and suggest as much to the board of War the alterations might be made.- Should you write on the subject I & thank you for a line of information.- I am your ob^t Ser^vt [undecipherable: probable reading D.
