Sir,
I have received your Letter of the 20th Instant, enclosing two thousand Dollars. in [undecipherable: probable reading "Post Notes for purposes in the Qr Master Departmt."]
Mr Daniel Haragan agent for the Qu. Mastr Genl at Fort Washington, by his Letter dated 9th of May last, informs me that Israel Ludlow has paid Jonathans Daytons draft in your favour for 1500 Dollars. & that, that sum is Placed to your Credit in account with the Qr Mr Genl.
Mr Haragan also informs me that the money left in his hands by Colo OHara, being insufficient for the many pressing calls on the Qr Master Department he has been under a necessity of [strikethrough: [undecipherable]] taking up money to a considerable amount of the Merchants at Fort Washington & of drawing on me for the several sums — [undecipherable] of these drafts have already been presented. In consequence of which I have been under a necessity of Drawing on you. Viz Yesterday in favour of Jeremiah Barker at 8 days sight for 1200 Dollars. and this day in favour of Wm Christy for one thousand Dollars. These drafts be pleased to pay and charge as usual —
On the 24th Instant, I sent forward all the Indian goods & Qr Mr Stores that had then come to hand. since which a few articles have arrived, which will be sent in charge of Captain Bissell who arrived yesterday.
