Your letter to the Secretary of War was handed to me, and in answer thereto have to inform you that the reward for apprehending deserters will be paid at this Office. provided the accounts are perfectly certified by you — The amount of your subsistance rations will also be paid here — by your procuring a certificate of the Contractor that you drew no rations during the time therein charged, and Certify that your accounts is just and true. — I am Sir Yr Ob

I received your letter of the 31st ultimo — with a Muster and pay roll of your Recruits to 31 May — on examination of which, there have been some errors discovered owing to your not including the day the Soldier inlisted, which has been rectified agreeably to the included Receipt Roll. — You will receive of John Chester Esqr the sum of one hundred and fifty nine dollars, and ninety eight cents being the amount due your Recruits to 31st May, which sum you will be accountable for, and will give him duplicate receipts for.
