[all the facts were [undecipherable] / in [undecipherable] this [undecipherable] O. / be particular in observing / the time those men w[ere] / last paid to.]
Sir West Point June 1. 1795.
In obedience to the directions contained in a letter from the Honble Secy of war of the 25 Ulto I have transmitted to you a muster Roll of the Corps of Artillerists & Engineers appointed at this Post made up to the last day of May 1795, together with the requisite Pay Rolls ——
It is necessary some thing should be said to explain them. Not being in the possession of any Documents to Shew to what time Lieut David Hales [undecipherable] have been paid, or the bounty which they have received, I have been obliged to omit that part in the muster Roll & have made out a separate pay Roll of those men for the month of May only, which we know to be due, & Shall leave the balance of their pay, & bounty (if any there be) to be settled when Mr Hale furnishes the proper vouchers. —— you will receive also a list of bounty due, which with the pay Rolls amount to (if I am not in error) Dollrs 1165.68/100 —— Lieut Endworth who is included in the pay Roll, requests that the sum with which he is charged for the Recruiting Service, may be deducted from his pay.
As soon as you are furnished with the necessary information relative to Majr Roberts's Account for which I am [undecipherable] I would thank you to let me know it. ——
I am with Respect
Sir
Your obedt Humble Sert
