Timothy Pickering, Secy. of War, June 1, 1795 — B.] [13] The Hon^ble Timothy Pickering Secy. of War Winchester June the 1^st 1795 Sir M^r Payton Marched on monday the 25^th ult. about one o clock P. M. I went with him two days & every thing appeared to go on well. You have inclosed a Muster Roll of the men he marched out a coppy of which I sent with him, there was a balance of bounty due some of the men but the morning before they march I made out a receipt Roll & paid [undecipherable] fifteen off before M^r Payton as will appear I have also a receipt from each on his Inlistment I paid M^r Payton the balance due of his Recruiting act. which was seventy eight Dollars & Sixty six Cents & advanced him one hundred dollors as contingent [undecipherable] for the purpose of Defraying the expinces of the journey I am [undecipherable] [undecipherable] [undecipherable] [undecipherable] [undecipherable] proper to Direct it. You have herewith a Muster Roll of the men with me at present also a Pay Roll as you Directed.
